I Have a Tray Crisis

Firstly, Today I am lucky enough to be guest posting over at La la Love, Learn and Laugh while the fabulous Beverly is getting married! If you want to see more wedding pictures or what I learned from the experience, go take a look.

I got a great deal on this tray when I popped into Salvation Army this weekend. It is one of my favorite places to get trays, even though the wooden ones usually have some horrible design.

I fell in love with the shape. I think it will be perfect once I get a coat on paint on it.

Lane asked the horribly silly question of why I need another tray. We already have them all over the house, but I never met a room that couldn't use more trays. They instantly make any shelf or table look chic by containing all the items in one area. I love the fact that this tray is an octagon instead of the more common rectangle. I am trying to decide how I want to paint it. Here are some of my ideas.

I adore the gold chevron pattern on this tray. It was also inspired by the amazing Etsy tray that you can see below.
gold zag tray, $98, so gorgeous

Oh my goodness it is so gorgeous. The price tag is a little steep, but I love the pattern. I am definitely going with a white and gold color scheme.

However, I don't know how chevron would look on a octagon tray. I also like the idea of stripes which might look better on a non-rectangle.

I think I will end up painting the outside gold, while the inside will be white. Because the shape is already interesting, I like the idea of keeping it simple. I don't know if I am talented enough to paint stripes or a chevron pattern without making a total mess.

What do y'all think? Will the gold/ white color scheme be enough? Or should I go for it and do stripes or another pattern. Regardless of pattern, the colors I want to use are gold and white.

  1. You have a great eye! I would have seen that tray and not given it a second thought, but with paint, it will be great! I'd go with plain instead of chevron or stripes. Besides, once it's painted plain, you can always change your mind it it's toooo plain.*
